Report from Mrs Sinclair
100 senior pupils and eight staff celebrated Mass along with 4000 other young people from North and South Lanarkshire in Carfin Grotto on Friday 16th September. This Mass was planned to celebrate the first anniversary of the Papal visit to Scotland, which pupils from Our Lady’s had been lucky enough to participate in.
Bishop Devine concelebrated the new Mass along with the chaplains to the schools involved and he reminded the young people of the message which Pope Benedict gave them last year. Carfin Grotto looked splendid for this great event, and although the prediction was for poor weather (with pupils well prepared in rain ponchos) the crowd was very lucky to enjoy fairly good weather throughout.
Our Lady’s staff and pupils were delighted that 3rd year, Michael Clark, had been chosen to assist the choir with the piping for entrance hymn, Highland Cathedral. The school captains and house captains were delighted to assist as communion stewards and carried out their duties expertly.
A great day to remember.
