A new bridge is being built across the River Forth and Transport Scotland invited the public to name it. Our Lady’s pupils came along to the Library with their English classes to find out about the area around the bridges, and the history of crossing the River Forth at this place.
The area around Queensferry is not familiar to most young people in Motherwell, but they did a great job. Not only that, but they discovered a link to Our Lady’s Margaret House, as the original ferry was set up by Queen Margaret of Scotland to help pilgrims travel to St Andrews. Not surprisingly, many entries echoed this connection, with names like Queen Margaret’s Bridge.
