Kelvingrove visit

3rd year Art pupils dragged staff out of school on Friday 9th May to participate in Kelvingrove’s annual competition to draw or paint one of the objects in the museum.

Pupils collected their materials before touring the gallery looking at pottery, animals, armour, glass, statues and fossils, before pupils settled down to concentrate on their favourites. Some had chosen to work in pastels, others in watercolours or pencils.

It was lovely to see people in the museum pausing to watch what our pupils were doing, but mostly the pupils were concentrating so hard on their work that they were oblivious to anyone else – in fact two of them were so oblivious to everything around them that they nearly missed the bus!

It was a great day with enthusiastic artists in a beautiful location, and we even had an organ recital at lunchtime.
