S5 retreat

Report from Mr Kerr

The senior students of RE Classes 5N1 and 5N2 were invited to St Thomas’s Church, Wishaw on Monday the 8th of December for a day long retreat.

After a brief welcome, we attended Mass for the feast of The Immaculate Conception with the parishioners of St Thomas’s. We then returned to the hall for some enjoyable solo and group tasks which encouraged the students to think of their own strengths and characteristics and to reflect on their uniqueness in the eyes of God and of God’s love for us. After break the students had the opportunity to reflect on the gospel message of ‘do not be afraid’.

After lunch students were given the opportunity to ask questions on the church, the priesthood and vocations and received many thoughtful and thought-provoking answers.

We then made our way back to the church for a blessing and a chance to reflect on the many interesting and spiritual matters raised during the day.

After a vote of thanks by Rhiannon McNee, the students were dismissed with plenty of food for thought!
