S3 Soliloquies

Mrs Millar’s 3rd year English class are studying Macbeth. To encourage them to engage with the language of the play, the pupils were asked to identify all of the soliloquies. A soliloquy is often used by playwrights to allow the audience to find out what is going on inside a character’s mind, as they stand alone on stage and speak their thoughts.

Pupils worked in pairs to select their favourite three soliloquies which they had to learn off by heart then perform! Finally they had to choose their own favourite soliloquy and it use for creative writing inspiration in whatever form they chose, be it a rap, a play using Shakespeare’s language or a totally original idea of their own.
