Christmas doors

Report by Mrs Zambonini

The PD class would like to thank everyone who decorated their door for Christmas.

All of the doors were amazing and we would have liked to give everyone a prize but the independent panel of judges – Mrs Sandra McRoberts, Ruth Robertson (Career Coach) and Keira-Jade Slavin (S6 pupil) felt that the outright winner was Miss Carnegy’s snowman. They felt that the amount of time she spent stapling all the cups together swung it in her favour.  Congratulations to Gillian.

We are going to run the competiton next year where all doors must be decorated using recycled / sustainable materials – get your thinking caps on!

(If your door is missing from the pictures, please let Mrs Macfadyen know).

Christmas Fair 2014

Our wonderful Christmas Fair took place on Saturday 29th November. Pupils in the Personal Development and Enterprise classes were responsible for turning our Zone from a dining room onto a magical festive fair, complete with Santa, bouncy castle and a whole range of fabulous gifts, prizes and good things to eat. Our Lady’s is particularly grateful for donations from families and school supporters.

The event itself ran like clockwork the following day and was busy throughout with staff and pupils grabbing the best bargains in the Zone before settling down for a chat with a cuppa.

Stalls were run by staff, pupils, parents and local businesses and included lucky dip, face painting, nail painting, make-up, raffle, tombola, toy tombola, bouncy castle, Santa’s Grotto, Ready Steady Bake, Christmas Cakes, Gingerbread Houses, Christmas Decorations, sweet stalls, Slush Company, hair accessories, school scarves, and home made cards.

Many thanks to everyone involved including the staff who organised and ran stalls on the day, all of the pupils who set up the Zone, manouvred furniture and sold like hardened sales staff, all of the parents, carers, pupils and friends of Our Lady’s who came along on the day and helped us raise a clear profit of £1020.84.

Christmas Parcel

By: Amy M

Our Lady’s High is doing a competition for the house who brings in the most bags of food, get a free afternoon of their timetable, on the 22nd of December. The whole point of this, is to give the food and gifts to the homeless. This includes tined food, such as soup, noodles, pasta, rice, carton deserts, selection boxs, chirstmas gifts and any other non perishable items. All of the items/bags have to be in for the 19th of December. You will also need to check the expiry date. I hope that this will be a great success.
